11 Months

It finally happened, we have a crawler on our hands. We are so proud of him. I think I was close to tears when I first saw him just take off. Not only is he crawling but he is talking a lot more lately. He usually has a lot to say after he eats and in the grocery store. "He is loud like his mama," which is what both Kevin and I said, separate from each other.

Lake Almanor, I Heart You

We just got back from camping and I miss it already. We had such a great time. As usual, we went with my family, aunts, uncles, cousins and close family friends. There is nothing like it for me. If I could pick my perfect day it would be at the lake. I just love it. I really cant say enough about it.

Mona and April doing dishes.

Our chef.

Mick, not loving his new life jacket, but got used to it.

First tube ride.

First time we took the SUPs to the lake, a new must. So great. Perfect to take out.

We always heading to the water early. Even though he woke up earlier than normal each morning he still slept way better than I thought he would.

Home Sweet Home. I know what you are thinking, no this tent is not bigger than our house.

Love you too Uncle Adam.

More to come about these two love birds...

Auntie Alyssa is so fun to be around.

Oh where to begin...we usually like to try new things up at the lake. We have all tried the short boards behind the boat but since the SUP came along this year we didnt want it to feel left out. And since it is so big we didnt want one person to feel all alone. Adam and Kevin successfully rode it behind the boat. Pretty impressive. Toes to the nose.

Kevin, wishing he had a partner.

Tummy time came on the cot. Thanks ASab.

Sorry, a little out of order. This was their first attempt.

Ok, here we go. Get on the boat, the Banana Boat. This was so intense! Yes, it is as crazy as it looks.

We love you Mimi.

Aunt Cha Cha and Alyssa.

Papa (my dad), Adam, Johnny (cousin), Bobby (cousin), and Uncle John.

Auntie April (ASab) loves her some Mick.

No caption needed.

First time on the SUP.

I am pretty sure Mick was trying to wave.

Best thing ever! If you are ever going camping with small children and want to give them a bath, get this duck. My mom found it on Amazon. It was awesome. At night it was a bath and during the day it was a pool.

Every year we get milkshakes in town. And every year we croud the place. And every year I feel so bad for the two or three girls that are working.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE

The lake would not hold the place it does in my heart if it were not for these people.

Lunch, Beach and Books

Over the past couple of weeks we have had lunch with Kevin, went to the beach on a cloudy day and had a visitor. All fun things that I would love to get more of.

one thousand gifts

Let me first start off by admitting that I am an awful writer. I have only gotten one A+ on a paper in my entire life, and it may even have just been an A but I hold onto that + just incase I need to make myself look good. I feel like I have great ideas but just cant seem to get them across in the way I would like. I mention this for two reasons, 1. I will try really hard to convince you to read this book, but since it was not my persuasive essay that got the A (+) I know I will not do a great job, because of that I will rely on quotes and examples from the book to do the persuading for me. 2. I feel like the author is great with words and artsy phrases, and I am not, so I am going through this book pretty slow to take it all in, you might want to too.

One Thousand Gifts by Ann Voskamp. A friend of mine has been reading, read, this book months ago and sent out an email encouraging others to read it as well. As usual it took me some extra time to get it and then get into a schedule of reading it. Soo glad I finally got around to it!

This book is a woman telling her story of trials that she has gone through in her life. She begins a challenge to come up with 1,000 gifts she recieves from God. 1. Morning shadows across the old floors. 2. Jam piled high on the toast. 18. Wind flying cold wild in hair. (see what I mean, Cold wild?). 22. Mail in the mailbox. She goes on through the book, through the trials adding blessings that God has given to her. Focusing on LIVING IN THE MOMENT.

There are just a couple of things that I have marked that I wanted to share.

"Wherever you are, be all there. I have lived the runner, panting ahead in worry, pounding back in regrets, terrified to live in the present, because here-time asks me to do the hardest of all: just open wide and receive."

"Stay calm, enter the moment, give thanks." Something I might want to put on my wall and look at everyday.

"Life is dessert-too brief to hurry....I want to slow down and taste life, give thanks, and see God."

There are so many beautiful pictures written about her and her family. If you have kids read this book, if you dont have kids read this book. If you feel like you are always go, go, go read this book.
I have started my own 1000 gift list and I encourage you to do the same, go get a journal or open up a word document and start listing. I know you are already thinking of a few right now.
